The Origin of the Amber Plan
The AMBER Plan was created in 1996 as a powerful legacy to 9-year-old Amber Hagerman, a bright little girl who was kidnapped and brutally murdered while riding her bicycle in Arlington, Texas. The tragedy shocked and outraged the entire community. Residents contacted radio stations in the Dallas area and suggested they broadcast special “alerts” over the airwaves so that they could help prevent such incidents in the future.

We first began to broadcast as WJAL on August 1st 1984, as the third television station in Hagerstown, the fourth independent station in the Washington DMA, after WTTG, WDCA, and WCQR, and the first outside Washington. For a short time in the mid 1990s, we were a WB affiliate. After that we went back to independent programming. As we continue today.

Important Miniature Lights Maintenance Notice
One of the many complaints about lights are " They didn't last very long"
Or "they got bright and then they went out" .or " half the set doesn't light.
Remember like any Electrical item it must be Maintained. Check for Burned
out Bulbs Regularly. If you see just one Mini Light Burned out Replace it Now!
If you don't take care of them they won't last. Read Package
1. All Miniature light sets are for Temporary Use Only. Read Package
2. You must Replace Burned out bulbs immediately.
Failure to do so will cause
other bulbs to fail. Read Package
3. Make sure when replacing bulbs you use the correct Voltage Bulb.
Check your package or tag on light for Correct bulbs.
Bulb Voltage may be 2.5Volts 3, 6, or 12Volts. Read Package
4. If you have a light set and only half of the set works here are some causes.
A. There are multiple Burned Out Bulbs in that section.
Look for blackened bulbs for clear or discolored for colored bulbs.
B. There is a Loose Bulb in the section that is out.
Remedy: Take one bulb out at a time and inspect the copper wire
on each side of the bulb. If you notice wire was Twisted simply
straighten or replace that bulb. That should then light the set unless you have
other Twisted Bulbs.
If you maintain any light set they will last Safely for years. It's all up to you.
